- ATTORNEY OF THE YEAR - The San Diego County Defenders Association awarded Mr. Bloom the 1998 E. Stanley Conant Attorney of the Year Award for dedication to representation of the indigent accused. The Award also caused Mr. Bloom to be acknowledged by the California State Assembly.
- DIRECTORS AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE - The San Diego County Criminal Defense Bar Association awarded Mr. Bloom its "Directors Award for Excellence" for his dedication and work on one of the county's most highly publicized cases involving an extensive and involved scandal in the San Diego District Attorney's Office.
- PRESIDENT - CRIMINAL DEFENSE BAR ASSOCIATION - Mr. Bloom was elected President of the Criminal Defense Bar Assocation of San Diego (1998-99); Vice President (1987-88) and was one of the founding members of the organization. He has been on the Board of Directors first in 1983-84 and then from 1996 to the present.
